 FAQs

  • The foster parent certification process typically takes about three months. That includes:

    1. Online and in-person training sessions

    2. A complete background check

    3. A supportive, in-depth home study

The process isn’t designed to rush you—it’s designed to equip you. We move at a pace that works for you and your family, making sure you feel prepared, supported, and confident. And from day one, Restore TFC walks with you. You’ll never have to navigate this process alone.

  • Children in foster care range in age from infants to 17 years old, and come from all racial, cultural, and socioeconomic backgrounds. Each child’s story is unique—but many have experienced trauma, neglect, or disruption in their home lives.

What they need most is stability, safety, and connection.

As a foster parent, you’ll always have input in the placement process. You can share your comfort level around age, needs, and number of children. Together, we’ll ensure that each match is a good fit for your home and your heart.

  • Foster parents provide more than food and shelter. They create a safe, nurturing environment where children can begin to heal. You’ll provide:

    1. Structure and day-to-day care

    2. Emotional support and encouragement

    3. A consistent presence during a difficult time

You’ll also work as part of a team that includes case managers, therapists, birth families, and the court system. And through it all, you’ll be backed by Restore TFC with 24/7 support and monthly resources, including a parent stipend to help meet each child’s needs.

  • It varies—some children may only need foster care for a few days or weeks, while others may stay for several months or longer. On average, most foster care placements last 6 to 18 months.

At Restore, we believe in meeting families where they are. We’ll talk with you about your availability and comfort level—and honor that as we match you with children who need care.

  • Because we’ve been there. Many members of the Restore TFC team have fostered or adopted children themselves. We understand the heart behind your “yes,” and we know the challenges that can come with it.

    That’s why we provide:

    • Free training and licensing

    • Complete cost coverage for background checks and home study

    • Ongoing 24/7 support during and after placement

    • A monthly stipend to help you care for each child

When you say yes to fostering, you’re not just helping a child—you’re building a bridge to healing. And when you say yes with Restore, you’re never doing it alone.
